Butterfly Garden
I wanted to create a dress that loves the sun as much as I do. I made the pattern "as it" because it provided the perfect canvas for my embroidery work. I altered a black-work design originally...

Re: The Winner of the the SewStylish Spring Fashion Challenge is...
My goodness! This contest has been a total ego boost for me. And I LOVE reading about all of the projects on this site! I was actually believing that the home seamstress was a dying breed! To be honest, I really don't spend a lot of time on the computer chit chatting with people. I do have a face book page for family and friends but I would love to chit chat with you guys more...especially to learn more about the Wild Ginger software!! And to pick everyone's brain. Mine is available for picking as well! :) If anyone is wishing to chit chat, my email is olivejuice@bellsouth.net or you can reach my face book page under that email!.... I am sure sooner or later this page of the website will be no more! And, like Gertie T and AthenaWeaves...I am ready for the next challenge! :)

Thank you so much! It has been so much fun...nerve racking but great! I stumbled on this contest when I picked up my first copy of Threads Magazine. It had an article comparing 3 of the pattern drafting software suites. When I looked online to learn more about Wild Ginger, I learned about the contest! Until now, I have just been reading about it and drooling! I am so excited to get a chance to really jump into it!! I have also had quite a few people ask me if I would consider making dresses professionally...Hmm...you never know where this contest will lead me! Thanks again!

Re: Book Giveaway on ThreadsMagazine.com
I would love to know more about this form of art. How beautiful!

Thank you so much for the wonderful comments and votes. I have had many people ask me if I would consider doing this professionally...I am not sure, to be honest. The work I do is very labor intensive and I am not sure that I would know what to charge. I have a very large family and I usually sew for them. I am promising myself that I will make more clothes for myself. Ya gotta spoil yourself too, ya know! And this Wild Ginger software is going to inspire me so much!! Thanks again for all of the encouragement! And perhaps I will give some thought to an Etsy shop! :)

My mom taught me. I had a needle in hand at the age of 4 making little sachets out of tiny bars of soap and scraps of fabric. I was learning the machine at 6...now I am an addict. It is my favorite hobby. Nothing gets my juices flowing like a new project. Although, I hated it when I was a teenager and went shopping with my mom. When I saw an outfit she would always say..."you could make that!" and that was her excuse for not buying it for me. Now, when I see some outfit with a hefty price tag I just decide that "I can make that!" I love it! Thanks Mom!

All three dresses are works of art. Having sewn all of my life (including sewing with origami), I speak with experience when I say that alot of work went into each of these designs...and I have every intention of incorporating their ideas into my own sewing...as we all do with artists that we respect. By the way...I have a tattoo also. Alot of people hate it...don't care. I wasn't thinking about them when I did it...and I don't give any thought to their opinions now... Gertie, you are very talented and I am honored to have had this experience with you and Athena! Good luck!....I still hope I win...but I have a lot of respect for your talent all the same~ :)

This is so incredible! Thank you for this challenge. I have had a blast! Gertie! You have me on the run! Ha! Ha! You guys are very talented. I have really enjoyed checking out everyone's sense of style and creativity. AthenaWeaves...I love the origami... I use that in quilts that I make. Very creative. I think we should exchange emails...and ideas! Good luck guys!

Thank you so much for your kind words! It is so much fun to see everyone's "vision" of the same pattern! To answer your question, I use PE Design for digitizing. Sadly, it has rained and been very overcast all week so the colors are not as bright as they get in full sun. But I had a blast designing it just the same!
