I'd like to pitch Minneapolis. The city is NOT just flyoever, and is certainly not some frigid Kryptonian tower. It boasts a significant art scene, along with the fabric store S.R. Harris, a place that causes a misty eyed look to many a costume designer among the active theater community here, and the indie store Crafty Planet - and that's just for starters. We have many boutiques for individual artists and upscale crafters, a vintage scene to make you weep, and a certain unique "Minneapolisness" that you'd have to come in off the coasts to actually see.
