Im a SAHM and self-taught craftster and chef. While pregnant with my second son, I spent three months on bed rest with very, very, very restricted activity. Only being allowed to sit or stand for 30 minutes a day total (including meals and showering), I needed something to do to pass the time. I went online, ordered Stitch N Bitch and some basic supplies and taught myself to knit.

In January (09!), I taught myself to sew, armed with the instruction manual that came with my hand-me-down Bernina and some scraps of fabric.

I believe that anyone can learn to do anything, given the determination and willpower! And, Ive also learned that its OK to make mistakes - thats why we have seam rippers! (Mine's named Jack the Ripper, BTW!)

Here's my finished "Bohemian Bag" using Lila Tueller's Soiree fabrics.  (It's also a Lila Tueller bag pattern - I'm kinda a stalker, er, fan!)  This was my very first quilting project...

Bramble Scarf

This is an easy-to-follow knitting pattern that produces spectacular results!  I used a merino wool blend yarn and a size 9 needle.  It's a gorgeous rusty orange-ish red-ish in real life...

Re: More recycled fun!

She's fantastic! I keep thinking I'll make a doll. I have one in my sewing room that my great-great-aunt made, complete with bedding and a miniquilt. Her hubby made the furniture, which she painted pale yellow and blue. I love it!
