Im a country gal now, but Ive lived in Wisconsin, Missouri, Alabama, and Texas. I love seeing the deer out my kitchen window - last year we rescued a fawn and my 6 year-old granddaughter got to hold him. Shell never forget that. I also love a trip into the big city, to get my energy up and get inspired. I tend to come up with unusual things that makes people say, Id have never thought of that. I love that because Im creative, Im ahead of the game when it comes to clothes or home design. Im also a trash to treasures gal. Ive had the Neimans card, but I get more fun out a a Salvation Army store!

Re: How to Make a Magazine Reed Box
Picture this: two pieces of same-size cardboard, with a square cut out for a picture, leave one end open to slide it in, a ribbon hanger, and viola, a perfect Father's Day present for the kids to make. Thanks for the inspiration!

C'mon folks, don't we need food for the soul, too? As far as the waste of material goes, I'm sure I could have made several squares out of bits and pieces that aren't good for much else.

Fiber arts like sewing and quilting have been on a downward spiral for a while now. The economy is changing that, but inspiration comes from many places.
As the family historian, I have many stories of the depression, but one was, my grandmother reworked the dresses they owned to look different and give their spirits a boost. I could spend a day looking at these pieces, and my spirit would be lifted. Sometimes that is what's needed.
