Perfect for beginners, Granny Squares (Guild of Master Craftsman, 2013) can provide you the foundation for many different projects. Starting with the basic crochet techniques, this book will then walk you through the granny square, circle, and hexagon which can be used to create an infinite amount of designs. These are quick to make and are great for those who are on the go!

Granny Squares also features 20 inspiring projects with full color images of each. Any skill level will appreciate making covers for your stool, notebook, seat, and cushion. You can also enjoy other crafts for your home such as blankets, light shades, bath mats, and coasters. Begin with a granny shape and make something for your friends and family!

Leave a comment on this post before the deadline-11:59 P.M., October 10 and you could take home a copy of Granny Squares. A winner will be chosen at random and announced via email the week of October 14.

bboxlady writes: Crochet has been my opportunity to make friends. I was taught to single crochet by a total stranger in a doctor's office almost thirty five years ago. Since then, I have had the chance to teach over one hundred people for the promise of teaching someone else.

As an assistant instructor at a small NY college, I use public transportation a lot and grannies are easy to work on while I ride.

Love your site!

Terri69 writes: It's been a lot of years since learning how to make these, I'm 58 now. 1st thing I made was a hot pink 2 foot by 2 foot qranny in rug yarn for my 1st daughter for her nursery. Now she is wanting to learn how to make these to do the same for her 6 month old daughter. I'm hoping to win this book to give to her.

user-779992 writes: I taught myself to crochet back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, enjoyed how much quicker it was than knitting, and then I discovered granny squares. Bliss. When I had my children, they became my little models for all things granny. Despite this, I never tire of learning new ways with this magnificent old crochet technique. The book looks positively yummy (a word only other crochet fanatics will understand in this context), and since purchasing it is not in my budget, winning it would be...scrumptious!

Kavithu writes: Wow! I've been waiting for something like this. I'm really crazy about crocheting though I'm only a beginner. I wish I could get that book so that I could learn to make granny squares and other techniques. It would be great if I could get it as I had learnt crocheting on my own and this book would help me a lot to learn various things that I might not know. I would be very lucky if I could earn this book. :)
Thanks for this chance to earn the book :)

NancyCdls writes: Oh, even the cover of the book makes me drool! Some books are like displays of art, and seems like this will be one of them. I've been furiously knitting for the past 15 years, but just picked up crocheting again (I learned to crochet when I was 8, but really haven't done it since then). I had seen an crocheted blanket advertisment in a british textile magazine last year, then saw a phenomenal crochete blanket in a thrift shop, and I had an AHA! moment. So, I started up crochet again, and have already made a lap blanket for a friend out of sock yarn - I got so many compliments on it. Who knew that something so simple could be so rewarding!! I'll be looking for this book now in stores also!
