The creation of your very own prayer shawl is an intensely profound and meaningful journey, and The Prayer Shawl Journal and Guidebook (The Taunton Press, 2013) by Janet Severi Bristow and Victoria A. Cole-Galo will be there to help you every step of the way. Not only does this book feature comprehensive instructions for the knitting and crochet that you'll need for the task, it also provides you with a space to record the process in a month-by-month journal, and keep stock of your needles, yarn, and other supplies, as well as completed projects. All this is further enhanced by the soothing aesthetic of the book and inspiring quotes that will enable you to truly get in touch with your spirituality.

There is never a time when a prayer shawl is an unwelcome gift - birthdays, graduation, weddings, holidays - all of life's major events can be improved with a beautiful shawl.

Comment here before January 9th at 11:59 PM EST to be entered in a random drawing to win this book. Two lucky winners will be selected and notified shortly afterwards!

Knit1Pearl2 writes: Gorgeous! I cry a small tear when I read such a beautiful description of my favorite book. I recently purchased this exquisite work, what I consider a personal bible of sorts, for my whole family, including Mr.Whiskers, my husband. My son Jim wanted a bike for Christmas, but I told him a bike wouldn't help him get closer to the lord through a yarn based craft activity, so of course he pitched a fit and had to be placed in his angry room. But hes learning!

I found the PraYer Shawl website almost 3yrs ago, and was so inspired by a then recent tragedy to join The Prayer Shawl Ministry . I had to learn to crochet even! I was determined to crochet and before long finished my first Shawl. . Our Prayer SHawl Ministry at our church has helped so many but at the same time it helps us too. I am so thankful I have the ability to create something so comforting for someone in need, and proud to be a member of this ministry.

craftgeek writes: I'm so excite about this book because it combines two of my major loves, crochet and spirituality. So thank you so much for this chance. I've created and given many lap blankets to the elderly and I have a feeling that a prayer shawl would bring much more comfort to people who are sometimes forced to get their comfort from the simpler things, and being able to record this kind of journey would be fantastic!

JudyP writes: Ilove making the prayer shawl because it gives a fulfillment of peace to the person Igive it to and it makes me feel good too. I feel the giving is from my heart and I hope the person it is given to will get their wish, or prayer answered. For me giving means more to me to see the warmth and happiness. When my Mom was alive I always gave her my first sample of new projects I made. She always made me feel so good. Today I love to donate to infants, preemies in hospitals, and those in need.
