If you're a beginner sewer, or even someone with no experience sewing who would like to give it a try, everything you need to get started is laid out clearly and concisely in How to Sew (Guild of Master Craftsman Publications Ltd. 2013) by Susie Johns. The first-time sewer will find fun and understandable projects in this book that demonstrate useful concepts with step-by-step illustrations.

If you'd like to win a copy of this book, all you need to do is leave a comment here by September 2nd. Two winners will be selected randomly and notified shortly thereafter.

craftgeek writes: MY husband bought me a old sewing machine at a swap meet because I wanted one so badly to recycle some old clothes I have. We couldn't afford a new one and the swap meet machine really works good. It came with a book but it was not at all for a beginner. I got really sick for so long and now that I am better I would really like to get back to my previous hopes of making myself some clothes from the old ones. With the help of this book. Please!

user-2823123 writes: I feel that it is very important in today's world that everyone knows how to sew. If you look at the trends and
how people are distinctly built differently it is very
important to wear clothing that specifically fits your own body. How many times have you went to try on an article that
you absolutely had high hopes about only to find that it wouldn't fit your body. That is why it is so important to have the knowledge and the tools to create something that is
specific to YOU! The more you know and the more comfortable
you feel with creating something that you will be proud to
wear, the more self esteem you have for yourself. You then
the confidence needed to venture into uncharted territories
and become a contributor to the art of free expression. I think this is good for everyone. You become your own unique you and you become more independent of the cookie cutter fashion. You also get to save tons of money only having to purchase accessories and shoes;)
