Close-up of shoulder decoration. This photo shows the true color of the dress the best. Fabric has a bit sparkle.

This is one of my favorite Prom dresses I made so far. My friend asked me to make something different for her prom. I wanted the dress to have lots of texture so I used a dark silver fabric with small ruffles that I placed in "fan" like directions for an added interest. The silver fabric is sheer so the dress is lined with bright chartreuse green satin and the same satin is used for detachable belt, shoulder strap and "leaves" around flowers. Pattern was custom made by me for a perfect fit using a French draping technique. Flowers and leaves are custom made and hand beaded with Swarovski rhinestones and crystals. Pictures do not show enough how beautiful this dress is. Some people thought it had origami folds and not ruffles! The dress has a built-in corset for ease of wearing since one shoulder strap is only for decotative purpose. Also crinoline ruffles slip provides support for the skirt layers. I used an invisible zipper so the back ruffles would continue the design without an interruption. The fabric is soft and light, does not wrinkle and moves very elegantly when on a person. I have a picture of my friend in this dress but did not have time to scan it before the posting deadline.
